I write and draw in a shed at the bottom of my garden but emerge from time to time to work on commissions, collaborations and projects. I contribute arts and human interest articles to Big Issue North magazine and I have lots of experience in lecturing and community arts. Highlights from my CV include being a visiting scholar at the Oxford Centre for Life Writing, Wolfson College, Oxford University and a Research Associate at Oxford Centre for Criminology. I’ve given lectures and public talks at University of Oslo, San Francisco State University, TORCH Humanities: Oxford University, Lucca Comics and Games, Turin Book Festival, Durham Book Festival, London Literature Festival, WOW Festival, London. My artwork has been exhibited in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Singapore. Becoming Unbecoming has been adapted into Theatre in Brazil. I have a Ph.D in Fine Art Practice, an MFA and BA Hons (Class 1). I’ve appeared on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, BBC Radio 3 Free Thinking, Newsweek, the New York Times, Times Literary Supplement, El Pais. Becoming Unbecoming was awarded a Prix Artémisia du Combat Féministe in 2019.
